Education and Training within the TUN Directorate.

There is a strong emphasis on staff development from induction to specialist education within the TUN Directorate.  

In addition to the Post Graduate Diploma in Renal /Urology Nursing we also deliver:

  • Nephrology nursing study days
  • Urology & Transplant Nursing study days
  • The fundaments of peritoneal dialysis study day  
  • Male & Supra pubic re-catheterisation study days

All study days hosted by the TUN directorate are awarded CPD hours.

 

Post Graduate Diploma in Renal Nursing in conjunction with RCSI.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Renal/Urology Nursing is designed to equip students with the theory and skills necessary to provide evidence-based, quality care to patients with renal/urological disorders in today’s challenging healthcare environment.

This course runs over 1 year, part time, commencing every September. The successful student will have the option to progress into year two to complete an Msc in Renal Nursing.  

 

The course contains 6 modules; 3 core modules which are delivered by RCSI and 3 clinical modules delivered in the Centre of Education, Beaumont Hospital. The specialist content of the programme focuses on  key aspects of Renal & Urology nursing.  

 

The clinical modules include:

Holistic care of the Patient with disorders of the Renal system

  • Care of the Renal transplant patient
  • Care of the patient with a Urological disorder ( Urology Strand)
  • Interdisciplinary care of the patient receiving Renal replacement therapy (Renal Strand)
