I am writing to you with regard to the issue of the number of Consultants who are choosing to either apply for career breaks/leave of absence or who are seeking to practise part-time, or are resigning from their posts.

I am requesting under the Freedom of Information Act 2014 that the HSE provides the IHCA with full details available to it and the hospitals/services it funds of the following:

• The number of hospital consultants by specialty who have applied in each of the past five years to change to a part-time public commitment, and the number of those applications granted;
• The number of hospital consultants by specialty who have applied in each of the past five years for a career break/leave of absence, and the number of those applications granted.
• The number of hospital consultants by specialty who have resigned in each of the past five years.

The information requested includes a breakdown of the specialty of each Consultant and the hospital (or service) to which they are attached, where available.

I would appreciate an interim reply confirming who will be dealing with my request and when the information is likely to be provided.
