Beaumont Hospital is a major academic teaching hospital with a strong commitment and track record in innovation in patient care and basic science research. We are the second largest hospital in the Republic of Ireland and the principal teaching hospital for the medical school of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Key Specialties

Beaumont Hospital is the National Centre for Neurosurgery, Renal Transplantation, Cochlear Transplantation and Alpha 1 Antitrypsin deficiency.  We have multiple supra-regional specialities and provide secondary care for a large North Dublin catchment area.  Beaumont is designated as a supra-regional cancer and radiotherapy centre.

International Reputation

A large Education and Research Centre run by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland on the Beaumont Hospital campus provides state of the art core molecular and cell biology facilities with a large number of clinical and basic science investigators.

The research programmes based at this Centre have established an international reputation in many disciplines, including translational programmes in Innate Immunity and Airway Inflammation run by the Academic Department of Respiratory Medicine.  Investigators have attracted extensive National and International funding through the Centre. In addition, the Centre hosts a clinical research centre that facilitates high quality clinical research programmes.

Beaumont Hospital has a major educational programme for undergraduate medical students, postgraduates in all sub specialities, nursing education and training of allied health professionals. The Hospital has been a leader in devising, validating, and appraising a variety of new teaching methods and the development of e-learning.
