First Graduates of Unique Hospital MSc Programme in Organisational Change and Leadership Development are Conferred

~ Beaumont Hospital to get direct benefit of collaborative learning experience ~

First graduates of the 3U Partnership programme

Thursday 15th November 2012: The first graduates of the unique MSc programme in Organisational Change and Leadership Development created through an innovative partnership between Beaumont Hospital, Dublin City University (DCU) Business School and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) Institute of Leadership were conferred in RCSI today.

The class of 19 graduates are the first from the 3U Partnership between RCSI, NUI Maynooth and DCU. Building on the success of collaborative work between the institutions over the last number of years, the 3U Partnership was formerly launched in June 2012 to deliver world-class shared initiatives in education and research.

The MSc in Organisational Change and Leadership Development is the only bespoke hospital MSc programme in Ireland. The programme was specifically designed to address the learning and development needs of staff at Beaumont Hospital and the wider health service. Its main objective is to develop leaders and managers who will play a key role in leading and enabling change that contributes to service improvement for patients.

The programme is positioned as part of the hospital learning and development strategy and is considered fundamental to creating a culture of high performance in the delivery of patient services. The programme commenced in September 2010. A follow-up group drawn from health care staff in Beaumont and Primary Care providers began the Programme in October 2012, demonstrating how this approach to leadership development can make a significant contribution to the health service reforms and programme for government.

Our partnership with DCU and strong working relationship with Beaumont Hospital, the main teaching hospital of the College, enabled us to deliver a hugely successful programme and we hope that the model can be delivered at other hospitals in the future to develop a network of high calibre healthcare leaders and managers.”
