At the Irish Healthcare Awards on 1st November, the National Poisons Information Centre project "Say NO to Poisons!" received a Commendation in the Best Patient Lifestyle Education Project category for its focus on improving patient care, innovation and collaboration.
The project aimed to teach pre-school children that some things are not safe to eat or drink and that they should always check with a grown-up first.
The National Poisons Information Centre led the project, which was funded by the HSE. The Co. Carlow VEC collaborated with the Centre to develop the storybook and related resources, and the project was supported by Early Childhood Ireland.
The books are being distributed primarily through the County Childcare Committees, and the other resources can be downloaded from the National Poisons Information Centre website.
