7th Annual Quality Patient Safety Meeting – Wed 21st Nov

Friday November 23, 2018

The 7th Annual Quality & Patient Safety meeting took place yesterday - Wed 21st November. The meeting provided an opportunity for staff to engage, discuss and learn how the hospital is committed to improving the quality of care delivered to our patients. The theme for this year's meeting was 'Leading the Way for Quality Care'

The keynote speakers were excellent with Captain Niall Downey, FRCSI and Pilot, speaking about how he has combined his experience in aviation and medicine establishing his company Frameworkhealth Ltd which provides aviation style safety training specifically modified for healthcare.

Ms. Melissa Redmond, Chairperson of Patients for Patient Safety Ireland, a WHO initiative, spoke about the importance of continued honest dialogue with patients and how that promotes patient centred care and indeed the role patients themselves play in facilitating the development of new tools which support patient safety.

The meeting then progressed to parallel sessions from multiple disciplines representing many areas and demonstrating the wide range of quality improvement activities taking place across departments and directorates in the Hospital.  Over 70 posters were exhibited demonstrating a wide range of quality improvement and patient safety projects being undertaken by staff here and in the other hospitals within the RCSI Group.

A sincere thank you to Mr. John Caird, Director of Clinical Governance for his engaging introduction and welcome to the event and to all those who contributed to the organisation and planning of this annual event in Beaumont's calendar.  A special word of thanks to all those who showcased their work on the day
