Pulmonary Function Unit
About us
The Pulmonary Function Department is responsible for testing the performance of the lungs. It compares the function of the lungs against what would be expected from the normal lungs of a person of similar age, weight, sex and height. Pulmonary Function tests are essential in diagnosis, initiation and monitoring of drug therapy and in continuous clinical assessment.

Hours and Access to Services
The Department opens Monday – Friday 8.30 am to 4.30 pm
The service is accessed by:
- Referral from a consultant /team
- Referral from Consultant's private practice
- Referrals from GP’s for Spirometry testing – carried out daily
Outpatients are seen daily by appointment only.
A service for inpatients is provided on a daily basis.
