About Us
The Stephen Doyle Endoscopy Unit is a purpose-built unit opened in Beaumont Hospital in 1996. The unit consists of 4 procedure rooms with a 14-bed recovery area. The following endoscopic procedures are carried out:

- Upper GI Endoscopy (Gastroscopy)
- Lower GI Endoscopy (Colonoscopy)
- Sigmoidoscopy
- Bronchoscopy
- Endoscopic ultrasound (diagnostic and therapeutic)
- Interventional endoscopy (complex polypectomy, endoluminal stenting, endoscopic placement of feeding tubes)
- Endoscopic bronchial ultrasound (diagnostic and therapeutic)
- Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
Approximately 10,000 procedures were carried out in 2018 with 16 consultants running lists in the Endoscopy Unit.
The Unit receives referrals from outpatients, inpatients, private rooms, GP referrals and other hospitals. The Unit runs a direct access service where GPs directly refer to the service.
Dr. Ross Morgan runs a rapid access service for bronchoscopy.

GP Referral Form - please ensure all relevant sections on this form are completed and either posted or emailed to Stephen J Doyle Endoscopy Unit, Beaumont Hospital.
The email address below is for referrals to Endoscopy where HealthLinks cannot be used. We encourage all referrals to come through HealthLink as this is the safest and most appropriate method however as some GP practices do not have access to Healthlink the email addresses below will be an alternative method of referral. The Unit opens at 7.45am and closes at 6.00pm Monday to Friday every week.
