Congratulations to Dr Conall O’Seaghdha, Consultant Nephrologist & Transplant Physician, and the Kidney Transplant Unit who won an IMSTA* Med Tech award for their Patient Buddy Transplant App at an awards ceremony on Thursday Oct 1st. (*The Irish Medical and Surgical Trade Association (IMSTA), established in 1982 represents the Medical Technology supply industry in Ireland).
The team led by Dr O’Seaghdha, developed ‘Buddy’ as a patient self-management tool for Kidney Transplant patients to take control of their condition. The solution is empowering Kidney Transplant patients through a smartphone application with home monitoring and diagnostics, helping them to improve the lifespan of their Transplant and giving their transplant care team additional data to improve their care.
The Transplant unit won the award in the highly competitive e-health category and was one of the main awards of the night. They have also been shortlisted for an IMT award in the Shelbourne in November.
