Beaumont Dietitian Receives Irish Research Council for Science & Technology (IRCSET) Scholarship

Beaumont Hospital dietitian Tara Raftery has been awarded an EMBARK Postgraduate Scholarship from the Irish Research Council for Science & Technology (IRCSET).


IRCSET is an independent and autonomous research funding and monitoring body established in June 2001 by the Minister for Education and Science to promote science and engineering research in Ireland. IRCSET is one of the two research councils in Ireland through which the Irish government provides its state-funded scholarships to a limited number of researchers, who are designated as Government of Ireland Scholars.


Tara will be undertaking a PhD entitled "Vitamin D - Optimal requirements and novel roles in Inflammatory Bowel Disease." She will be working under the guidance of Prof. O' Moráin and Dr. Marie O'Sullivan in the Trinity Centre for Health Sciences based in AMNCH, Tallaght. She will be undertaking a randomised, placebo-controlled trial in patients with Crohn's Disease.
