Beaumont Radiology has taken delivery of a mobile CT scanning unit which is located between the ambulance bay area of ED and the new Breast building. This unit will give increased capacity to CT OPD scanning in the Hospital and will accommodate up to 5,000 patient scans between now and the end of the year.
The first patient will be scanned on this unit on Thursday 10th February and in the interim the site will be developed with a ramp and canopy which will link the unit to the main hospital. All CT patients who will be scanned on this scanner will continue to check into the main radiology reception and will be escorted from there to the unit. The support of the Technical Services Department has been essential in getting this new service development to this point.
