This multi-disciplinary day included presentations from Professor Kate Irving DCU, Consultant geriatrician Dr. Sean Kennelly and Dr. Susanne Timmons Consultant lead for the National Dementia Strategy. Dr. Niall Galligan (Psychologist) spoke on the important topic of self-care and Dr. Hally (Psychiatry of Older Age) regarding the behaviours and psychological symptoms associated with dementia. Ms Ciara O Reilly spoke on progress made by the FITT (Frailty Intervention Therapy Team) in our Emergency Department.

The event was closed by Ms. Nora Owen, former Minister for Justice who spoke of her own personal experience of caring for someone with dementia. We are very grateful to all our invited speakers for what proved to be a very productive and educational day, thank you!
