World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day takes place on May 31st and the theme this year focuses on 'Life with MS', sharing everyday tips on living life with MS challenges, in turn helping someone have a better day.

There are approximately 9,000 people in Ireland with MS and an average of 250 new cases each year. MS is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks its own tissues causing inflammation and scaring which may slow, distort or block messages in the central nervous system.

Making an appearance on Ireland AM to promote awareness of this day was Jane Roche, Multiple Sclerosis Nurse Specialist from Beaumont Hospital. She was joined by Maggs O'Riordan Wall who shared her own story on life with MS and are pictured on the couch with Ireland AM presenters, Ciara Doherty and Mark Cagney.
